SYNOPSIS: HEIDI is a brand new musical adaptation of the classic Swiss children's novel by Johanna Spyr. The heartwarming tale follows the adventures of a young orphan girl who goes to live with her reclusive grandfather in the Swiss Alps, and explores themes of family, friendship and faith as she navigates her time in the mountains.


NOTE: All ethnicities are welcomed and encouraged to audition. Every effort will be made to have a cast that is reflective of the world we live in with regard to racial diversity and gender identification. MUST BE NON-UNION.


SEEKING:


CLARA AND OTHERS: Female 18+ to play 12-16. Delicate, thoughtful, and quietly strong. Clara is physically fragile but emotionally resilient. Clara really wants to feel like a normal young girl. She has definitely been trapped most of her life, and Heidi brings light and hope into her life. Alto.


PETER AND OTHERS: Male. 18+ to play 12-15. Energetic, headstrong goatherd with a big heart. Innocent and impulsive. A big brother figure to Heidi. Heidi opens him up to see the beauty in the world. Baritone.


GRANDFATHER: Male. 50+. Gruff and reclusive, but fiercely protective. A lonely older man who tries to distance himself from the world, but has a big heart. Finds healing through Heidi. Baritone.


PETER’S GRANDMOTHER: Female. 50+. Warm and wise. Represents the emotional heart of the mountain. Full of spunk. Lower Alto.


ROTTENMEIER AND OTHERS: Female. 30s-50s. Stern, proper, and somewhat comedic antagonist. Governess with a superiority complex. Alto/Belter.


SESEMANN AND OTHERS: Male. 30s-60s. Clara’s father. Affectionate and earnest, struggling to balance work and family. Kindhearted father figure, sometimes absent but he’s doing his best. High Baritone / Low Tenor.


ENSEMBLE: All genders. 20s-50s. Ensemble features include strong characters, solos, and harmonic work. Looking for Mezzos, Altos, Tenors, and Baritones.

SYNOPSIS: THE LITTLE MATCH GIRL, the iconic story by Hans Christian Andersen, comes to life in this new musical adaptation, set to a contemporary score filled with soaring melodies. It's New Year's Eve, and the Little Match Girl is forced onto the streets to sell matches to support her family. Cold and alone, her wondrous imagination takes her away from the harsh realities and struggles of her daily life. Armed with match sticks and music, she finds the hope we all need.


NOTE: The company of players will participate throughout the piece as storytellers through various characters. All ethnicities are welcomed and encouraged to audition. Every effort will be made to have a cast that is reflective of the world we live in with regard to racial diversity and gender identification. MUST BE NON-UNION.


SEEKING:


THE STORYTELLER - MAN 1: 40-65; Male. Observing and narrating the action while revealing himself as Hans Christian Anderson writing the tale. Strong charismatic actor, excellent singer. High Baritone.


THE CHEF / FATHER CHRISTMAS - MAN 3: 30s-50s; Male. An eccentric comic type, strong character actor, excellent singer and moves well.
